2017 Audi A5 Sportback
2017 Audi A5 Sportback – As a left-Mercedes CLS in 2004 to cover broken, the alleged producer dared to create new market sectors. Now, 12 years later, it is clear that it is something that almost every German manufacturer offers its own take on four-door coupe formula. Among them is the new Audi A5 Sportback second generation, not only the more expensive Mercedes CLS had in mind, but also BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe and the Volkswagen Passat CC.
With a pair of extra doors and more practical tailgate with rear flap over the latest A5 Coupé exit A5 Sportback is a big hit with buyers. Perhaps it is not surprising that, at least in style, this new car is an evolution of its predecessor, with some improvements in key areas.
Among them, things really changed. The new A5 Sportback is based on the latest Audi’s MLB platform, so the car is now longer, wider and deeper – changes that Audi promises to bring more occipital and legroom and a better starting place.
A5 Sportback should be but a sporty feel behind the wheel when he wanted to take the fight against the current four-seater coupe our fourth generation, 4p coupe. Because of the previous A5 Sportback is not fun, what Audi hopes to correct with, new tuning stiff suspension, sharper steering and a significant weight reduction of 85 kg, despite its name.
Predictions are that the 2.0 TDI 190 diesel will be the choice of the most popular engines in the UK, but the 282bhp 3.0 TDI V6 diesel we tested here is the real showstopper, complete with quattro (name Audi for the all-wheel drive) and an eight-speed automatic transmission as standard.
What’s the 2017 Audi A5 Sportback like to drive?
Put your right foot and A5 Sportback rocket off the track with minimal fuss, followed by an acceleration of your business. For highway speeds in a short time Paddle behind the wheel, you can shift gear manually, but as impressively low U-thrust engine, which can be found rarely changed.
Audi has not released performance data for the 3.0 TDI, but slightly stronger version of the engine found in the A4 sedan – a car that can run in just 5.3 seconds from 0-62 mph – we hope that sooner Sportback is.
Once up to speed, the advantages of this new suspension and 85kg weight loss will become more apparent. The new A5 Sportback feels more agile than its predecessor, and even in the fast-changing direction impressive body control. Press a little harder, however, and the nose will push wide, which is slightly disappointing given the efforts to improve the front-end grip. Quite numb steering connecting further problems, making it difficult to assess what is actually doing the front wheels.
However, because the dry road on our test tracks, not surprisingly improved handling, and in the long, fast corners of the A5 Sportback feel very calm, shrugging means arc folds with relative impunity. Indeed, it was not funny and interesting as BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe, but it does have the advantage that the car is more playful rear-wheel drive layout.
Finally, we have found that the Sportback more sense if you drive it like a GT car. The cabin is very quiet at speed, low-down torque, no electricity and is easily accessible thanks to the aerodynamic profile of the car it replaces, the fuel economy average more than 50mpg should be achieved.
A5 Sportback rose more comfortable than his main rival, too. This is slightly more powerful than the super-slim A4 sedan based, but it withstand a few lumps and bumps that we are well and remains very close to the highway. Our smooth test track is the way UK, as always, the challenge is much greater.
2017 Audi A5 Sportback Interior
The Sportback interior will be familiar to anyone who has spent time in the A4 sedan at the moment – and it’s not a bad thing. Dashboard minimalist exterior design is consistent with the conservative. MMI infotainment system of the Audi is one of the easiest to use and the combination of perception of interior materials is much higher than any competitor.
With more space between the front and rear wheels compared to the exit Sportback, Audi also managed to free some of the interior, giving the rear passengers an additional 24mm knee room and 11mm more shoulder room. That may not sound much, but it means that two six-foot-tall adults can sit one behind the other relatively comfortable, even if a severe curvature of the roof means headroom is limited to people in the back.
To boot includes an electrically operated tailgate as standard, while the 480 liter luggage space increased more than its predecessor by 15 liters. Unfortunately, a flat opening restrict you from having to carry high objects, but it is worth mentioning that unfolded with the 40/20/40 split rear seats, increased to a whopping 1,300 liters of space, more than enough space for a set of skis is.
